Closures remain in place due to air quality warning

Outdoor recreation facilities, programs, and sporting amenities remain closed until further notice due to the Environment and Climate Change Canada’s Orange Air Quality Warning.

In addition to these closures, the following events are impacted:
  • The London Fire Department’s Beat the Heat event scheduled for tonight at East Lions Park is postponed
  • The Outdoor Movie Night tonight hosted by the South London Neighbourhood Resource Centre at White Oaks Park is cancelled
The poor air quality is now expected to last through Friday. Stay tuned for further updates on the City of London’sFacebook and Instagram accounts.

Our community centres remain open to provide indoor relief for Londoners.

Outreach teams continue to connect with people experiencing homelessness, sharing information about cooling locations and available supports, encouraging people to seek relief in air-conditioned indoor spaces where possible, distributing water as part of their outreach efforts, and connecting people with services that can help reduce health risks.

While the Orange Air Quality Warning is in effect, it is important to limit your time outdoors, keep your windows and doors closed as much as possible to reduce smoke from entering your home, and follow the Middlesex London Health Unit for guidance.

Stay safe, London.
