Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance

The Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance was formed on July 1, 2003 as a partnership between Listowel Memorial Hospital and Wingham and District Hospital. We share a common management structure with one CEO. We have a commitment to partnership and common Mission, Vision and Values. The Alliance Board consists of both hospital boards combined. We look for opportunities to create and share services and programs across our two communities and to look for creative ways to link to our community partners.

The Listowel Memorial Hospital has been providing acute care and complex continuing care services to the residents of North Perth and the hospital’s catchment area since 1919. Our fully accredited hospital offers a wide range of primary and secondary services including 24-hour emergency services. In-patient and out-patient care, specialist clinics and supportive diagnostic services. The Hospital has an active staff of 10 Family Practitioners as well as several consultant staff.

Hospital services include:

  • Emergency, Operating Rooms, Diagnostic and Ambulatory Care Units (December 2007)
  • Maternal/Newborn Unit
  • Diabetes/Nutrition Counseling
  • Speech-Language
  • Physiotherapy
  • Breast Health Centre
  • Fully integrated electronic patient health record with Family Health Team and Physician offices.

The Wingham and District Hospital is a modern, progressive acute care facility providing medical, surgical, obstetrical, paediatric, chronic and rehabilitation bed and other services, including 24-hour emergency coverage.

Hospital services include:

  • Emergency department with 24-hour on-call coverage
  • Rehabilitation department including physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech language pathology
  • Multiple outpatient specialist clinics held on a regular basis to provide local service
  • Affiliation with London Regional Cancer Centre enabling chemotherapy treatment to be provided locally
  • Many community health related education programs
  • Fully integrated electronic patient health record with Family Health Team and Physician offices.


Position:  Manager of Supply Chain

Region:  Huron and Perth

Description:  The Manager of Supply Chain organizes and oversees all activities involved in the identification, acquisition and distribution of LWHA resources. The position is responsible for managing the LWHA supply chain, logistic strategy and operations to maximize efficiency. As a leader this position is accountable for contributing to the delivery of the organizations’ strategic directions including consistently demonstrating awareness and promotion of staff and patient/family centered engagement and care. Working and leading a strong team, the Manager of Supply Chain provides leadership, vision and oversight with a focus on service excellence, coaching/mentoring, relationship building (internally and regionally), strategic innovation planning, and fostering consensus at all levels of the organization to ensure their departmental objectives are achieved.

The successful candidate will be available Monday through Friday, 37.5 hours per week, with on-call work as required.

Responsibilities: 

  • The provision of procurement and logistic services at both the Listowel and Wingham Hospital sites demonstrating Broader Public Sector Procurement Guidelines.
  • Acting as a primary resource for all Request for Proposal / Information /Quote initiation/Vendor or Record, issuing analysis and recommendations undertaken for all locations. Includes price and contract negotiations, product searches, sourcing, selection and standardization
  • Identifying, creating, implementation of efficiencies and savings from purchasing/logistics opportunities. This could be through process, system, standardization, substitutions, etc. improvements and changes.
  • Supporting the product selection and acquisition of equipment and materials for minor redevelopment and capital projects for all locations.
  • Oversee capital planning. Ensure 5-year capital plan aligns with department and organizational objectives.
  • Ensure timely and on budget purchases for all approved items.
  • Liaison with Healthcare Materials Management Services (HMMS) procurement and other Group Purchasing Organizations as well as logistics services. This includes the management of these contracts.
  • Contract management.
  • Manage contractor management process and records.
  • Management of the materials management staff on such functions as:
    • Supplier maintenance and management
    • Inventory management and optimization
    • Ordering of equipment and supplies
    • Invoice reconciliation, as well as month end year end reconciliation
  • Lead, support or participate in key activities or action plans as identified on applicable Operational Plans.
  • Facilitate Purchasing team huddles.
  • Participate in administrator on call schedule.
  • Operational management of purchasing/supply chain.
  • Participate in administrator on call schedule.

Qualifications: 

  • Certified Supply Chain Management Professional (CSMP) Designation
  • Experience with Broader Public Sector Procurement Requirements and Guidelines is an asset
  • 3-5 years of recent relevant negotiating and purchasing experience
  • 3-5 years of leadership experience
  • Sound working knowledge of medical, surgical and other relevant products, services and technologies is an asset
  • Minimal physical effort
  • High degree of mental effort 


Salary:  $51.59 - $64.50 per hour

Terms of Employment:  Full-time
