Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance

The Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance was formed on July 1, 2003 as a partnership between Listowel Memorial Hospital and Wingham and District Hospital. We share a common management structure with one CEO. We have a commitment to partnership and common Mission, Vision and Values. The Alliance Board consists of both hospital boards combined. We look for opportunities to create and share services and programs across our two communities and to look for creative ways to link to our community partners.

The Listowel Memorial Hospital has been providing acute care and complex continuing care services to the residents of North Perth and the hospital’s catchment area since 1919. Our fully accredited hospital offers a wide range of primary and secondary services including 24-hour emergency services. In-patient and out-patient care, specialist clinics and supportive diagnostic services. The Hospital has an active staff of 10 Family Practitioners as well as several consultant staff.

Hospital services include:

  • Emergency, Operating Rooms, Diagnostic and Ambulatory Care Units (December 2007)
  • Maternal/Newborn Unit
  • Diabetes/Nutrition Counseling
  • Speech-Language
  • Physiotherapy
  • Breast Health Centre
  • Fully integrated electronic patient health record with Family Health Team and Physician offices.

The Wingham and District Hospital is a modern, progressive acute care facility providing medical, surgical, obstetrical, paediatric, chronic and rehabilitation bed and other services, including 24-hour emergency coverage.

Hospital services include:

  • Emergency department with 24-hour on-call coverage
  • Rehabilitation department including physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech language pathology
  • Multiple outpatient specialist clinics held on a regular basis to provide local service
  • Affiliation with London Regional Cancer Centre enabling chemotherapy treatment to be provided locally
  • Many community health related education programs
  • Fully integrated electronic patient health record with Family Health Team and Physician offices.


Position:  Clinical Manager (CCC, Medical/Surgical, Family Birthing Centre)

Region:  Huron and Perth

Description:  The Manager of Clinical Services is a member of the Leadership Team and represents the vision, mission and values of the Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance (LWHA). The Manager of Clinical Services works in collaboration with staff, professional staff, patients/families, and the members of the Leadership and Senior Executive Teams. This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day clinical operations of the Listowel CCC, Med/Surg and Family Birthing Centre. The Manager applies structured processes and controls, demonstrates strong leadership capabilities, and uses effective change management approaches to meet established standards for quality, efficiency, and safety in the care provided to individuals served by the Alliance.

The successful candidate will be available 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday with on-call duty as required. This position is available immediately.

Responsibilities:

  • Strong communicator and proven ability to facilitate timely resolution of patient and family issues in collaboration with the team
  • Demonstrated understanding of commitment to patient-focused care philosophy
  • Ability to work with frontline staff to identify, promote and resolve quality issues
  • Ability to implement change management processes for quality improvement and system advancement
  • Ability to implement and manage unit-specific HR functions such as recognition, performance management and conducting performance reviews
  • Ability to manage and triage multiple priorities while meeting targets and deliverables
  • Possess the ability to work, think and lead independently. Takes initiative and demonstrates superior problem solving skills
  • Ability to manage projects/initiatives and apply successful change management strategies through project goal setting, measurement, and intervention development and testing
  • Ability to lead investigations
  • Experience with successfully managing people and multidisciplinary teams
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with patient partners and implement patient centered initiatives to improve patient experience
  • Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to build relationships, engage team members, and manage conflict effectively

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Masters’ preparation preferred
  • Three years’ experience of progressive leadership in healthcare preferred
  • Minimal physical effort
  • Extensive degree of mental effort, decision making and analysis


Salary:  $57.97-$72.46 per hour (5 step grid based on exper

Terms of Employment:  Full-time
