The Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance was formed on July 1, 2003 as a partnership between Listowel Memorial Hospital and Wingham and District Hospital. We share a common management structure with one CEO. We have a commitment to partnership and common Mission, Vision and Values. The Alliance Board consists of both hospital boards combined. We look for opportunities to create and share services and programs across our two communities and to look for creative ways to link to our community partners.
The Listowel Memorial Hospital has been providing acute care and complex continuing care services to the residents of North Perth and the hospital’s catchment area since 1919. Our fully accredited hospital offers a wide range of primary and secondary services including 24-hour emergency services. In-patient and out-patient care, specialist clinics and supportive diagnostic services. The Hospital has an active staff of 10 Family Practitioners as well as several consultant staff.

The Wingham and District Hospital is a modern, progressive acute care facility providing medical, surgical, obstetrical, paediatric, chronic and rehabilitation bed and other services, including 24-hour emergency coverage.

Position: Temporary-Part-Time Cross Site Pharmacist

START DATE: June 3, 2026 – September 30, 2027
SALARY RANGE: $52.75 - $65.95 (5 step grid based on experience)
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Pharmacist is the medication expert and steward at the hospital in all aspects of medication safety and supply. Medication use and dispensing fall under the Pharmacists mandate. The Pharmacist also researches and provides drug information and therapeutic advice and ensures that all medications dispensed are clinically appropriate for patients. The Pharmacist is committed to continued learning and quality improvement within the medication management systems in the hospital and they follow legislative requirements as outlined through the Ontario College of Pharmacists and other relevant agencies. The Pharmacist at LWHA is an integral part of the inter-professional team and works closely with a highly functional pharmacy and oncology team. The Pharmacist reports to the Pharmacy Coordinator who shares clinical workload with the Pharmacist. There is significant opportunity for the Pharmacist to be involved in interesting and exciting quality improvement projects that enhance the patient care experience at LWHA and improve the working environment for their colleagues. As a key member of the satellite program for Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre (VFCC), the Pharmacist will work cooperatively with LRCP, participating in meetings and education as appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BSc. Phm) program or equivalent.
- Current registration as an “A” Registered Pharmacist with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
- Minimum 2 years’ experience.
- Oncology experience is an asset but not necessary

- Moderate physical effort
- Extensive degree of mental effort and analysis
POSITION-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
- Provides drug information and therapeutic advice to patient and health care professionals.
- Patient care consults and medication reviews.
- Review medication orders for accuracy, receiving verbal orders, solving discrepancies including allergies, interactions and order clarification (drug/dosing) and notifying appropriate staff of drug interactions.
- Involvement in pharmacy related Quality Improvement initiatives.
- Participation at committee meetings such as Pharmacy and Therapeutics and Safe Meds – providing clinical and drug use evaluation to the inter-professional team as the medication expert.
- Review & verification for all chemotherapy orders for our satellite Oncology Unit for the London Regional Cancer Program
- Antimicrobial stewardship.
- Establish and supervise drug distribution systems. Responsible for all aspects of medication safety, supply, use and dispensing.
- Development, implementation and maintenance of drug profile libraries for smart pumps.
- Lead, support or participate in key activities or action plans as identified on applicable Operational Plans
- Active member of applicable team/unit/department meetings and huddles.
HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, between 0700 - 1700
