Service Description: Public health programs, services, information and support for parents and families before pregnancy, during pregnancy, after baby is born and until children start school

Services include:
  • information and support
  • home visits
  • assessment and screening
  • group sessions and telephone support

Services also provided to healthcare providers, licensed child care centres, and community service providers * website with information and resources on many topics
 
Breastfeeding - Variety of breastfeeding supports available:
 
Healthy Babies Healthy Children - Home visiting program * public health nurses provide health information and support related to healthy eating, pregnancy, breastfeeding, infant care, child development, safety and parenting * assist people in connecting to community supports and resources * services provided for pregnant mothers and families with young children up to the transition to school
 
Nurse-Family Partnership - Home visiting program for pregnant young women expecting their first child
 
Prenatal Health - Online e-learning education program, information, and resources for pregnant individuals and their support person
 
Smart Start for Babies - A weekly in-peron free prenatal group education and nutrition support program for pregnant individuals and young adults (teens) who have a difficult time accessing healthy food * partners or a support person are also encouraged to attend
 
Telephone Support for Families - Free, confidential information and phone support from a Public Health Nurse about topics such as pregnancy, postpartum recovery, postpartum mental health, breastfeeding, infant feeding and nutrition, early child development, safety, sleep, positive parenting, community supports and resources

Application: No referral required * appointments or registration required for certain programs or classes
